Office of the Senior Deputy Director for Health Promotion provides leadership and direction for the Health Promotion Cluster. The cluster assesses the health status of the community, provides health education and outreach, integrates the health delivery system, and implements intervention strategies. Health Promotion's goal is to advance and support a coordinated system of care that utilizes all sectors of the health care system. The principal objectives of this approach are to prevent service duplication and fragmentation, and forge greater efficiency in the utilization of District, federal, and private resources.
The Nutrition Programs Administration develops and implements programs to enhance dietary patterns of the public and achieve the Year 2010 Nutrition Objectives.
The Maternal and Child Health Administration administers the Title V Maternal and Child Health Services Block Grant, and develops and implements programs to reduce infant mortality and teen pregnancy prevention.
The Health Statistics Administration
collects, preserves, and analyzes information on births, deaths, and other vital events that occur in the District of Columbia. The Administration serves as the clearinghouse for vital records and provides official health data to other local, state, and federal agencies.
