Mission
The goals of the Medical Assistance Administration are to:
Develop a comprehensive plan for financing health care for the District's uninsured and indigent residents, in support of the health care goals set by the Mayor and the Department of Health.
Develop eligibility, service coverage, service delivery, and reimbursement policies for the District's health care financing programs that ensure improved access and efficient delivery of service.
Administer the District's Medical Assistance Program, Medical Charities Program, and other health care financing initiatives.
Program Description
The Medical Assistance Administration is the state agency responsible for administering Title XIX of the Social Security Act, the Medical Charities program, and other health care financing initiatives of the District. Additionally, MAA:
Develops eligibility, service coverage, and payment policies for the District's health care financing programs.
Ensures that District health care programs take full advantage of federal funding for services for the indigent and uninsured.
Manages the use of health care services and the cost of care in District health care financing programs.
Analyzes existing health care financing policies to ensure that they are promoting efficient, effective, and economical care.
