The Department of Health protects the health of residents and visitors in the District of Columbia. The Department sets health policies and standards for the delivery of services. The Department is also a strong advocate for disease prevention and health promotion activities; the provision of financing mechanisms to ensure access to healthcare; and environmental health protection and enforcement.
