Career Brief
Dr. Kristin Jerger is currently director of health
policy at the Council of Latino Agencies (CLA) in
Washington, DC. Dr. Jerger received an AB in Human
Biology from Stanford University, an MD from the
Medical University of South Carolina, and her residency
training in psychiatry at George Washington University
Medical Center in Washington, DC. Following her
residency training, she completed a post-doctoral
fellowship in neuroscience at the Krasnow Center for
Advanced Study at George Mason University, where she
focused on the dynamics of epileptic seizures and
seizure prediction.
Since 1988, Dr. Jerger has conducted research on a wide
range of neuropsychiatric issues, including Alzheimer’s
disease, Childhood Onset Schizophrenia, and Substance
Dependence. In 2003, Dr. Jerger began to apply her
medical research skills to public health issues,
particularly those involving barriers to health access.
Toward this end, she currently serves as principal
investigator of the Latino Health Care Collaborative
project aimed at elucidating and ameliorating major
health disparities experienced by Washington DC’s Latino
population.
