In the District of Columbia, the state Medicaid agency is called the Medical Assistance Administration (MAA) and is located within the DC Department of Health.  In addition to the Medicaid program, MAA also administers insurance programs for immigrant children, the State Child Health Insurance Program (S-CHIP or CHIP) and Medical Charities (a locally funded program).
