Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What number can I call to talk to someone about substance abuse in my family?

A great place to call is the DC Metro Substance Abuse Hotline. Its phone number is 1-888-294-3572, and it is open 10 am - 2 am every day. Trained counselors are there to give you answers to your substance abuse questions. The phone call is anonymous; they do not use caller ID, and they do not know who is calling. So, you can feel safe in asking whatever questions are worrying you.

You may also want to call one of the hotlines run by the various 12-step fellowships. These numbers include hotlines that support family members of users, as well as hotlines for users. For more information, visit the 12-Step Meeting Information page.
