Mission Statement
The Pharmaceutical Control Division ensures that the pharmaceutical products and services available for consumption and use are safe for their intended purposes.

Program Description
The Pharmaceutical Control Division issues licenses and registrations to all facilities that prescribe, dispense, distribute, sell, and conduct research on drugs in the District of Columbia.

The Division also conducts inspections of community pharmacies, hospitals, penal institutions, substance abuse treatment programs, long-term care facilities, community residence facilities, drug researchers, and stores that sell patent medicine products.

The Division conducts investigations and provides consultation services to all of the facilities and programs that provide pharmaceutical products and services to residents in the District of Columbia.

All complaints concerning the dispensing, prescribing, distribution, and wholesaling of drugs are investigated by the Pharmaceutical Control Division.
