Women's Health Initiative
The Maternal and Child Health Administration Administration established the Women's Health Initiative to address the health needs of women in the District of Columbia. The cornerstone of this initiative is the establishment of a network of health professionals and public and private organizations who combine their resources and knowledge to ensure that all women have access to health care. The Women's Health Initiative is a member of the State Women's Health Coordinators, Region III, and the Office on Women's Health, US Department of Health and Human Services.

Mission
The mission of the Women's Health Initiative is to direct and influence women's health policy and promote positive health practices among women in the District of Columbia. This is accomplished by ensuring that women have the knowledge and resources available to safeguard their health and well-being. The initiative ensures promotion, prevention, screening, diagnostic, treatment, and rehabilitative services.
