National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW) - April
In 1994, the President declared "National Infant Immunization Week" to focus attention on the importance of proper immunization for infants and toddlers. Communities across the country use this week to increase awareness of and access to immunization services by:
- expanding clinic hours;
- distributing information at supermarkets, movie theaters, and other public places;
- canvassing neighborhoods;
- holding immunization fairs; and
- creating new partnerships with businesses and community groups.
National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM) - August
The National Partnership for Immunization (NPI) has designated August as National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM). Each year, this commemorative month increases awareness about immunization across the lifespan as parents and children prepare for the return to school, and the medical community begins preparations for the upcoming flu season. NIAM provides an opportunity to create positive messages for the media and to highlight local, grassroots immunization initiatives.
National Adult Immunization Awareness Week (NAIAW) - October
The National Foundation For Infectious Diseases, National Coalition for Adult Immunization spearheads this annual observance to coordinate awareness-raising activities that focus on adult and adolescent immunization. This is a great opportunity for individuals and organizations to promote the importance of adult and adolescent immunization using the theme "Prevention for a Healthy Future".
