Mission
The mission of the Immunization Program is to provide vaccinations to children and high-risk adults, with particular emphasis on children less than 2 years old. Services include direct vaccine services, the Vaccines for Children Program (VFC), education, record assessment, Immunization Registry, disease surveillance, and outbreak control.
Program Description
The Immunization Program was established to prevent and control vaccine preventable diseases among District residents. The Immunization Program provides free immunization services to all District residents with an emphasis on the medically underserved. The Immunization Program works with other agencies, such as Medicaid, the Community Health Centers (CHC), and the Early Period Screening Detection and Treatment (EPSDT) Program, that delivers immunization services. We aim to keep children healthy and prevent families from acquiring vaccine-preventable diseases.
Goal
To improve and maintain high immunization levels in children, adolescents and high-risk adults, with particular emphasis on children less than two years of age.
