Services are achieved through education, record assessments, direct vaccine services, disease surveillance and outbreak control.

Population-based Assessment
Assess children in licensed child care, Head Start Centers and those entering elementary school at the pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and first grade level to ensure that 95% have received all recommended doses of vaccine.
Assess students in fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth grades to ensure that at least 70% or higher will have completed hepatitis B three dose series and Varicella (or disease history) requirement.
Conduct annual retrospective survey from kindergarten school entry data to assess increases in vaccine series administered.

Assessment in the Private Sector
Conduct assessment of immunization levels of children in the PBC Community Health clinics, Federally Qualified Health Centers and selected WIC centers to determine the immunization rates for their practice and programs.

Disease Surveillance and Control
Vaccine Preventable Disease and Adverse Event Surveillance
Conducts surveillance of vaccine preventable diseases and adverse events to ensure maintenance of disease free status for all vaccine preventable diseases.

Public Information and Education
Link with managed care organization, large group practices and the Community Immunization Coalition of Washington, DCto conduct training and ensure that immunization messages and materials are provided.

Storehouse of immunization records for children and adults in the District of Columbia.
Perinatal hepatitis B Prevention
Control and prevent pernatal hepatitis B transmission through screening of pregnant women and improve vaccine coverage in infants especially those at risk for contracting hepatitis B.

Community Immunization Coalition and Delmarva Foundation
Work with the Community Immunization Coalition and the Delmarva Foundation of Washington, DCto conduct training for outreach workers.
Hispanic and Asian Community
Work with Hispanic, Asian and other communities to develop effective information and education programs.
