Short Summary of Laws, Regulations and Policies with Title and Law Number:
D.C. Law 6-83 (Preventive Health Services Amendment Act of 1985) : mandates the reporting of cancer;
D.C. Law 8-157 (Preventive Health Services Amendment Act of 1990): enhanced confidentiality of patient’s medical information, and authorized the reciprocal exchange of non-resident patients seeking health-care in out-of-state facilities. Law also prescribed stiffer penalties for divulging confidential cancer information.
Federal Public Law 102-515: providing support to States to enhance their State Cancer Registries that will ensure complete, accurate and timely gathering of incident cancer diagnosis to be used for administrative and research purposes.
