Mission
The mission of the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) is to improve the nutrition and health of low-income pregnant, postpartum, and lactating women, infants, preschool-age children, and residents 60 years old or older. CSFP provides them with nutritious food to supplement their diets, along with nutrition education to enable them to use the foods wisely.
Program Description
The Commodity Supplemental Food Program provides nutrition supplements to eligible women, infants, children, and seniors residing in the District of Columbia. This nutrition program is administered through the Department of Health's Office of Nutrition Programs. CSFP serves participants monthly through local public and private agencies. The local agencies certify clients on the basis of residency, categorical eligibility, and income.
