DC Diabetes Prevention and Control Program Advisory Council Bylaws
Goals
Address issues related to improving the medical standard of care provided to people with diabetes in the District.
Assess gaps in diabetes care and services relating to accessibility, finance and education as well as develop a District plan for resolving these problems.
Facilitate a network to share resources among individuals and organizations involved in diabetes.
Provide guidance to the DC Diabetes Prevention and Control Program.
Membership
Membership is appointed by the Director of Health to a 2-year term.
Membership may be voluntarily withdrawn by written request to Director of Health.
The chairperson is appointed by the Director of Health and provides written and oral reports on a regular basis.
Government
The legislative body should not exceed 25
members and include one chairperson,
subcommittees, subcommittee chairpersons, and staff members of the DC Diabetes Prevention and Control Program.
The Council shall provide advice to the Director of Health regarding future directions, objectives and funding sources for diabetes activities in the District.
Council meetings will occur 4 times per year. Subcommittees will meet monthly.
Twelve members, plus the chairperson, must be present to constitute a quorum.
The rules contained in Roberts’ Rules of Order shall govern the deliberations of the committees in all cases where they do not conflict with standing rules or regulations.
Duties
The chairperson shall:
Serve as the presiding person of all regular meetings
Be an ex-officio member of all sub committees
Assist the Director of Health in appointing
subcommittee members
Subcommittee Members:
Subcommittees will be created by the Director of Health and the chairperson.
